Drew: Hey what's up this is Drew, owner of Connoisseur Concentrates. And I am here today with my Chief Lab Technician; Professor Matsumoto and my Media Director; Audrey, and today we're gonna be doing a breakdown of the Obama Kush terpene profile. Okay the Obama Kush is one of my favorites for many reasons. It's a hybrid strain, a cross between an Afghani and an OG Kush if I remember correctly. One thing I love about this is it's a-there's only one smell like Obama Kush. You know what it is, it's sweet, its earthy, it smells a lot like cannabis, and we nailed it with the strain. I'm telling you this is a great strain. One of the first things you'll notice is that the bottle is clear. That is because this is one of the Organic terpene blends that I've created. It is a blend of strictly organic terpenes. There's nothing artificial in it, there's nothing synthetic in it, all pure terpenes. One of the first things you're gonna do when you purchase this bottle
is you're going to open it up and smell it. So what I'm gonna do is open it up and smell it for you and give you a little breakdown on what it smells like. Now, this is a really complex blend. It's hard to put a finger on. It smells like weed, that's really what it smells like. It smells crisp and clear. It doesn't smell very sweet in the bottle, but it definitely has some earthy undertones to it with a hint of sweetness. One of the things that I can tell you that is extremely important; is not to buy your terpenes based on what the bottle smells like. It is a rookie mistake and I'm gonna let Audrey explain to you why that is.
Audrey: Right, so what Drew just touched based on a little bit; the most important thing when you are purchasing your terpenes is to keep in mind that the pen almost never tastes exactly like what the bottle smells like. When you're buying terpenes you need to know this because your end-user, your customer, is
gonna be tasting that pen, not smelling your bottle. This is why our product is better because we formulate our strains and our terpenes for the taste at the end, not walking up to the counter and sniffing it.
Drew: The best way to understand this, in the simplest way, is take your favorite bottle of perfume, spray it in the air and smell it, and then spray it in your mouth and taste it. And I'm gonna tell you that it's not gonna taste like it smells, and that is exactly the same way terpenes are because a lot of terpenes go in a lot of perfumes okay. We are making a flavor ingredient. So, Professor can you tell us exactly what this tastes like versus what it smells like in the bottle?
Cameron: Well of course, I actually made up an Obama Kush pen and I'm gonna tell you exactly what it tastes like. (Cool.) Yeah, so I'm getting sweet, then earthy, then a cannabis profile, and then on the end there the earth comes back. It's very refreshing actually, and I would categorize this as a perfect cannabis profile, meaning that it literally tastes exactly what the strain is.
Drew: Yeah, I can tell you that everybody asks for my favorites, this is one of my favorites. It's very good. One of the other ways that we designate our terpene profiles is based on whether it's a blended strain or a
separated strain. Blended strains taste the same combination of flavors, the same way through the inhale and the exhale. Separated strains; you'll taste one flavor, and then another flavor. It may be something different at the end or different in the beginning. Cam can you tell us where this one plays out?
Cameron: I would categorize the Obama Kush as a well-blended terpene profile, meaning that you're gonna be able to taste all that sweetness, that earth, and that awesome, awesome OG Kush cannabis
flavor from inhale to exhale.
Drew: One of the other ways that we differentiate our profiles is based on whether they're an enhancing agent or a masking agent, and Audrey can explain that as well.
Audrey: Right, so each terpene profile varies on how strong the actual flavor is. Obama Kush is categorized in our medium to more mild category. We designed this profile to be an enhancing agent, rather than a masking agent. So on your exhale, when you're smoking the terpenes, that means that the cannabis aroma will be enhanced, rather than completely covered like it would be with flavor like Bubblegum or Pineapple.
Drew: So what we mean by a medium to mild strength is if you were to take six drops of this profile and put it in a gram of extract, versus six drops of another profile in a gram of extract, even though the profile all tastes like one thing. Sometimes the strength level of that profile can differ. This can be a very mild profile at the same ratio. This one can be super loud. This one's a mild medium flavor.
